  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups finely diced Honeycrisp or Gala apples
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and grease a nonstick baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and sugar until mixed. Add egg, vanilla extract, and applesauce; whisk until smooth.
  4. Gently fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until combined. Carefully stir in diced apples.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each bite.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While baking, prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar with apple cider until smooth.
  8. Brush warm fritters with glaze and broil on high for 2–4 minutes until caramelized.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
