  • 113ml buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 125g confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a doughnut pan.
  2. In one bowl, combine dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together wet ingredients: melted butter, brown sugar, buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and nutmeg.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  5. Spoon batter into the doughnut pan until three-quarters full.
  6. Bake for about 11 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together confectioners' sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt; dip cooled doughnuts in the glaze.
