  • 2 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • For the frosting: 1/2 cup dried canned pumpkin puree, 1 cup unsalted butter, 4 oz cream cheese, 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 3 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla, milk, sour cream, and pumpkin puree; mix until combined.
  3. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture; stir gently until just combined.
  5. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for about 18 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow cooling before frosting with a mixture of softened butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and dried pumpkin puree.
