  • 16 string cheese (cut in half crosswise)
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • Oil for frying
  • Marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare three bowls: one with flour, another with beaten eggs and milk, and the third with seasoned breadcrumbs.
  2. Coat each piece of string cheese in flour, dip in the egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg dip and breadcrumb coating.
  3. Place coated sticks on a parchment-lined sheet pan and freeze for at least 2 hours.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with marinara sauce.
