- 4 potatoes
- 4 zucchini
- 4 eggplants
- 1 kg minced beef
- 800 grams crushed canned tomatoes
- 200 grams Kefalograviera cheese (plus extra for layering)
- 150 grams unsalted butter
- 1 liter milk
- Seasonings: salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, thyme, oregano
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 165°C (fan-forced).
- Slice potatoes, zucchini, and eggplants into circles. Fry until golden brown in olive oil; drain on paper towels.
- In a large pot, sauté chopped onion and garlic in olive oil until translucent. Add minced beef until browned.
- Pour in red wine and crushed tomatoes; season with spices and parsley. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- For béchamel sauce, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour until smooth, then gradually add milk until thickened. Stir in egg yolks and cheese.
- Layer potatoes at the bottom of a baking dish; add layers of eggplant and zucchini with seasoning; pour meat sauce over layers.
